Alcohol Awareness Month
April is known as Alcohol Awareness Month.
Alcohol and all the reasons we "should" drink it are always being shoved in our faces. From shirts and home decor to news, TV shows, friends, family, music and even the books we read - alcohol shows up in our lives ALL of the time.
Now becoming aware that we might have an issue with the way alcohol is impacting our lives, that hits a little differently. And becoming conscious of it? Well that's a few more steps up the ladder.
There is a marked difference between awareness and consciousness. Awareness is when you may feel or sense something without exactly knowing what it is. Consciousness is where you shift from that feeling or sense having to complete understanding over the source of the issue.
Consciousness is where you go from trying to figure out what is off in your life to embracing what needs to change ... your relationship with alcohol.
Don't get me wrong, it all has to start somewhere. And Alcohol Awareness Month is the perfect place to start. We can't fix a problem we aren't aware of, and we have to raise awareness before we can bring consciousness to it.
If you're reading this - you're already aware and that means you're on your way to conscious - even if you haven't made it there yet! And as so many of us can tell you - becoming conscious can be painful but staying conscious is empowering and freeing!
