Are you asking loaded questions?
I never ask my kids loaded questions. Why? Because when you ask your kids loaded questions and crucify them if they don't give you the answer you want, you are teaching your children that they can't be honest with you. You aren't providing a loving space for them to be open and share with you.
It's important to practice mindfulness and take a step back to have an honest conversation with ourselves about what we are creating for our children. Are we fostering a relationship built on trust and open communication, or are we creating an environment filled with fear and judgment?
As parents, it's crucial to remember that our children look to us for guidance and support. If we want our kids to be honest with us, we need to create a safe space where they feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings without fear of backlash or criticism. Loaded questions only serve to create tension and anxiety, making it difficult for kids to express themselves freely.
Let's strive to be mindful in our interactions with our children and approach conversations with empathy and understanding. Let's encourage honesty and openness, and show our kids that they can trust us with their thoughts and emotions.
