Everything Alcohol told me is a Lie

Let's address the myth that alcohol makes you more sexy. I can't tell you how many times I thought a few drinks would make me feel more confident and attractive. But the truth is, alcohol is actually packed with empty calories that can make you gain weight. Not to mention, it dehydrates your skin, making you look older in the long run. So that so-called "liquid courage" is really just making us feel worse about ourselves in the end.

Next, let's talk about how alcohol is supposed to make us more social. Sure, it might lower our inhibitions for a few hours, but at what cost? How many times have we woken up the next day not remembering the conversations we had or the connections we made? Alcohol can actually isolate us from forming real, meaningful relationships because we rely on it as a crutch to be social. We end up with friends we only connect with while drinking, and that's not genuine friendship at all.

And let's not forget the idea that alcohol helps us be better parents or relieves our stress. I used to think that a glass of wine at the end of a long day would help me relax and unwind, but all it did was mask my problems temporarily. The truth is, alcohol only increases our anxiety the next day, leaving us with less patience and energy to be present for our families. How can we be good parents when we're hungover and irritable? It's a vicious cycle that alcohol convinces us is helping, when really it's hindering our ability to be the best versions of ourselves.

I know it can be hard to see through alcohol's lies, especially when it's so ingrained in our culture and social lives. I was in denial for a long time too. But I promise you, one day you'll realize that alcohol is not the answer to any of our problems. It's time to break free from the toxic cycle and start living our lives authentically and without the crutch of alcohol.

If you're struggling with your relationship with alcohol, know that you're not alone. Reach out to someone you trust or seek professional help. It's never too late to make a change for the better.
